What does your camper need to know?

General Camp Information

Camp will be held outside. Campers should be prepared to spend the day outside: appropriately dressed for the weather, sun protection applied, etc.
All families and campers are expected to review and understand the Covid-19 Safety procedures linked and listed below.

Drop off and Pickup procedures

Drop off and Pickup will be at the GRPC Visitor Center (438 Coleman Ave, San Jose, 95110). Look for staff in the driveway!
Camp starts at 9:30 AM; please arrive no earlier than 9:15 AM. Staff will not be available to supervise children before that time.
Everyone must wear a mask during drop off and pickup.
Families will answer health assessment questions every day at drop off.
Camp ends at 1:30 PM; campers not picked up by 1:40 will be supervised by staff. Every attempt will be made to contact guardians – if there is no contact by 2:30 and the child has not been picked up, we will contact the appropriate agency.
A late pick-up fee of $1/minute will be charged until 1:45. $2/minute will be charged after that.

Packing Meals and Snacks

Campers will be required to bring their own snacks, meals, and water bottles each day.
If a camper fails to bring lunch, we will contact the guardian. If the guardian cannot be reached, lunch will be provided for a fee.

Covid-19 Safety Procedures

Camp will be limited to 12 children, 2 staff, and 2 assistants.

Camp staff will only interact with campers in their group.

Non-camp staff will not interact with campers, except in the case of emergencies.

Face coverings will be required for all children, adults, and staff during program hours, except when eating and drinking. If your child is unable to wear a face covering, they must wear a face shield.

We will be asking parents to answer health assessment questions each day confirming their child does not exhibit symptoms of illness before allowing children into the program.

Each child will be assigned individual supplies/program materials to use for the week.

Our program will take place outside, including for drop off and pick up, except in the case of very inclement weather. Campers will enter buildings only to use the restroom.

Social distancing will be strictly enforced during meal and snack times and water breaks. Social distancing will be encouraged at all times according to CDC guidelines.

Enhanced cleaning and sanitation procedures will be in place, and hand washing will be encouraged throughout the day.

Campers will be briefed on health and safety procedures at the start of each camp session.

Covid-19 Exposure Procedures

Children displaying signs of illness will not be admitted to camp at drop-off and must leave immediately.

A medical isolation space will be established for any child or staff that starts feeling ill during camp. Guardians are required to pick up their child within one hour of being contacted if their child is not feeling well.

If a camper or staff member tests positive, we will transition camp to a virtual model for ten days to allow for quarantining.

If a close contact of a camper or staff person tests positive, that person will not be allowed to attend camp for ten days.

If State or County mandates change and we are required to do so, we will transition immediately to a virtual model.

Lunch Information

Campers should bring their own lunch, snacks, and water bottle every day.
