Have an unforgettable birthday at the Guadalupe River Park and Gardens! Our PEEP (Park Education & Encouraged Play) Birthday package provides a unique blend of learning and fun, perfect for curious young minds.

What's Included?

The PEEP (Park Education & Encouraged Play) Birthday Package is more than just a party- it’s an unforgettable learning experience that fosters a love for the environment.

PEEP birthday parties include two special nature programs, an Animal Encounter and a Trail Tour, as well as fun animal-themed games that will spark your child’s love for nature.

Get ready for:

1.5 hours of hands-on nature exploration with our fun and knowledgeable environmental educators
2 hour picnic reservation in the Rotary PlayGarden to celebrate with friends and family

Animal Encounter Program

Start the day by meeting our small animal superstars!

From tiny crayfish to beautiful toads and turtles, the GRPC is proud to steward various educational animals. Your group will be able to observe our animals and their adaptations firsthand, while learning more about their lifestyles and the ecosystems which support them.

Please note that our live animals are treated with respect and have strict handling restrictions to keep them and your children safe and happy. We are happy to share them with you and your group so that everyone can appreciate their wonderful characteristics and learn from them!

Topics Covered: Adaptations, animal ambassadors, evidence, models, observations, patterns, riparian ecosystem, structure & function.

Nature Trail Tour Program

After hanging out with our animals, take a guided tour of the Guadalupe River Park with our trained Guadalupe Guides!

Can you believe we have a thriving ecosystem in the heart of downtown San José? Trail Tours serve as a wonderful overview of the Guadalupe River Park, allowing you the opportunity to explore in nature with your friends and loved ones. We’ll be stopping along the tour for small investigations according to what piques your group’s interest, meaning a unique tour every time!

Topics Covered: Adaptations, ecosystems, human environmental impact, native and invasive plant and animal species, pollution, species interdependence, urban parks, your questions and curiosities

Special Note: This program aligns with science standards for grades 2-4 and offers a hands-on community science experience, perfect for a variety of groups and learning styles

Package Pricing Tiers

Park Education & Encouraged Play (PEEP) Birthday Packages:

PEEP Small Group Birthday Package (20 kids max): $400
- 1.5-hour PEEP program followed by a 2-hour reservation at the Rotary PlayGarden amphitheater. The birthday honoree will also receive a PlayGarden pin and lanyard. No party accessories are provided.

PEEP Large Group Birthday Package (35 kids max): $700
- 1.5-hour PEEP program with two of our enthusiastic educators followed by a 2-hour reservation at the Rotary PlayGarden Picnic Celebration Area. The birthday honoree will also receive a PlayGarden pin and lanyard. No party accessories are provided.

Important Information:

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required for all birthday packages.
PlayGarden Reservations without PEEP Birthday Program component are made separately – please email picnic@grpg.org if interested

IMPORTANT POLICY INFORMATION

Refund Policy

There is a $50 non-refundable deposit for birthday packages
For cancellations 30 calendar days or more prior to the reservation, we will issue a refund less $25 cancellation fee
For cancellations 14 to 29 calendar days prior to the reservation, we will issue a refund less a $50 cancellation fee.
We will not issue a refund for cancellations less than 14 calendar days prior to the reservation.

Weather Policy

Please be advised that the PlayGarden is an outdoor facility and may be affected by a variety of weather conditions such as rain, wind, and temperature, which should be considered prior to making a reservation.
Inclement weather closes Rotary PlayGarden. We do not issue refunds due to weather unless the facility closes on the day of the event. We will make every effort to contact you in advance of a weather-related closure. Should the PlayGarden close, we will offer a credit toward a rescheduled date or a refund upon request.
If rain is forecast, parties may reschedule their PlayGarden reservation without additional fees provided they contact GRPC at least three days in advance. If the party chooses to cancel the reservation, the normal refund policy applies.
