Thanks for you interest in our map collection.  This is a very long park with many features, and thus is difficult to map.  Below are several maps of different areas.  If you do not see what you are looking for, please Contact Us.

Guadalupe River Park & Gardens Walking Map -- (.pdf file, 1.6 MB)
Thanks to the San Jose Redevelopment Agency, we have this handy pocket map that packs a surprising amount of information into a small package.  You can print from the .pdf file above or stop by to pick one up, we can also mail one to you.

Guadalupe River Park Master Plan Map (html file)
This is the most detailed map, but shows some areas that do not yet exist, beware!

San Jose Heritage Rose Garden  (.gif file, should open in your web browser)
This rather simple map gets the job done, if you are looking for a certain rose and know it's location, this map will get you to the right section, and then the numbering system is a snap to follow...

Directions

The Guadalupe River Park & Gardens is an enormous regional park, so if you know how to get to one part of it, you may not know how to get to another.  The following will explain how to get to some key points.  You can always use Yahoo Maps for addresses and street intersections.

The Visitor & Education Center

This is our office!  438 Coleman Avenue, San Jose, CA 95110.  408-298-7657.  This is not the Ranger Station on Santa Clara Street that is shaped strangely and hangs out over the river.

  • From 101, take HW 87 South.  Take the Taylor Street exit.  Turn RIGHT on Taylor Street.  Turn LEFT on Coleman Avenue.  Pass our building, it'll be on your left.  Make a U-TURN at Guadalupe Parkway.  Turn RIGHT into our facility.
  • From 280, take HW 87 North.  Take the Julian Street exit.  Turn RIGHT on Julian and then LEFT on Market Street.  As you pass under HW 87, Market Street changes names to Coleman Avenue.  Turn RIGHT into our facility.
  • From 880, take the Coleman Street exit heading South.  Pass our building, it'll be on your left.  Make a U-TURN at Guadalupe Parkway.  Turn RIGHT into our facility.

This area is served by VTA Bus Lines 11, & 62, please call VTA for more information: (408) 321-2300.  The nearest Light Rail stops are St. James Street and Japantown/Ayer.  There are two bike racks at this location!

 


 

The Garden Center, the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, the Historic Orchard, and the Recycled Water Demo Garden.

This area of the park is located between Coleman Ave. and HW 87 just South of the Mineta San Jose International Airport and HW 880.  The Garden Center is located at 715 Spring St. in San Jose, CA 95110-1901.

  • From 280 take HW 87 (Guadalupe Expressway) North.  Take the Taylor Street exit and head WEST (Left)  Turn RIGHT on Spring St. and start looking for parking.  You are there!
  • From 880, take the Coleman Street exit heading South.  Turn LEFT on Hedding and then turn RIGHT on Spring St.  Spring Street dead-ends into Taylor and you will see the Gardens in front of you and the Garden Center on your right.  Parking is allowed on the West side of the street.
  • From 101, take HW 87 South.  Turn RIGHT (WEST) on Taylor, then Right on Spring Street and look for street parking.

The Seymour Street Parking Lot (Marked Red Above)

This parking lot provides convenient parking in the heart of Guadalupe Gardens, but to get here you'll have to take a few obscure side streets.

  • From 280 take HW 87 (Guadalupe Expressway) North.  Take the Taylor Street exit and head WEST (Left), turn LEFT on Walnut St., then LEFT on Seymour St. and start looking for parking.  You are there!
  • From 880, take the Coleman Street exit heading South.  Turn LEFT on Taylor St., turn RIGHT on Walnut St. and then LEFT on Seymour St. and start looking for parking.  You are there!
  • From 101, take HW 87 South.  Turn RIGHT (WEST) on Taylor, Turn LEFT on Walnut St., then LEFT on Seymour St. and start looking for parking.  You are there!
  • From Downtown San Jose, take Market Street North, it will seamlessly turn into Coleman Avenue as you pass under HW 87.  Before the Taylor Street  intersection you'll see a small side street call Seymour, turn RIGHT on Seymour, cross Walnut Street and start looking for parking.  You are there!

Arena Green and the Children's Carousel.

This is the easiest part of the park to get to since it is located right next to a huge landmark, the San Jose Arena.  It is located at the intersection of Santa Clara Street and Autumn Street, and all you have to do to get there is get to downtown San Jose and then follow the signs to the Arena.

This area is served by VTA Bus Lines 22, 64, and 68, please call VTA for more information: (408) 321-2300.  The nearest Light Rail stop is the San Fernando Station.  The Diridon Train Station is also nearby.

 


 

Discovery Meadow

This area is located just North of the Children's Discover Museum at 180 Woz Way, San Jose, CA 95110-2722.  Its major cross street is San Carlos Street.

  • From 101, take HW 87 (Guadalupe Expressway) South.  Take the Park Avenue exit.  Turn LEFT on Park Ave.  Turn RIGHT on Woz Way.
  • From 280, take HW 87 (Guadalupe Expressway) North.  Take the San Carlos Street exit.  Turn RIGHT on San Carlos and then RIGHT on Woz Way

This area is served by VTA Bus Lines 23 and 81, please call VTA for more information: (408) 321-2300.  The nearest Light Rail stop is the Children's Discovery Museum Station.
